All of our PEAK NT Partners receive an initial nutrition screen as part of their comprehensive assessment.  This consists of a medical history, anthropometric assessment, food frequency analysis and an individualized set of recommendations for enhancement of nutritional intake.  Should you so desire, you can take advantage of our additional nutrition services and programs which can further individualize and pinpoint your particular nutrient needs.

The concepts of integrative nutrition, nutrigenomics, nutritional epigenetics, and metabolic or functional nutrition play a large role in our philosophy of nutrition support, and provide our clients with access to cutting-edge nutrition therapy.  If you already have a medical condition like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, an immune disorder or deficiency, or a food allergy, then you should be seen by a Registered Dietitian.  A Registered Dietitian is a nationally recognized nutrition expert and is uniquely trained and qualified to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy.

What is Integrative Nutrition?

Integrative Nutrition is patient centered, healing oriented, and embraces conventional and complementary therapies. It represents a broader paradigm of nutrition therapy than the dominant biomedical model. It was driven initially by consumer demand and is now increasingly accepted by health care providers and institutions. Integrative Nutrition reaffirms the importance of the therapeutic relationship, a focus on the whole person and lifestyle, a renewed attention to healing and a willingness to use all appropriate therapeutic approaches whether they originate in conventional or alternative medicine.

What is Nutrigenomics?

Nutrigenomics is the effect that changes in our genes have on our risk of disease and dysfunction that can be mitigated by nutritional intervention and the impact our food, nutrition, stress, and toxins have on the expression of our genes.

What is Nutritional Epigenetics?

Nutritional epigenetics concerns changes in gene expression influenced by modifications to DNA and its associated proteins without changing the nucleotide sequence of DNA, where the genetic information is stored.  These epigenomic changes affect gene expression and can also be inherited.  Foods and specific nutrients can play a role in changing how our genes are expressed.

What is Functional Nutrition?

Functional Nutrition is personalized nutrition that deals with primary prevention of the underlying causes of chronic disease instead of treating the symptoms. It is a science-based field of health care that is grounded in the following principles:

·     Biochemical individuality describes the importance of individual variations in metabolic function that derive from genetic and environmental differences among individuals.

·     Patient-centered medicine emphasizes "patient care" rather than "disease care.”

·     Dynamic balance of internal and external factors.

·     Web-like interconnections of physiological factors – an abundance of research now supports the view that the human body functions as an orchestrated network of interconnected systems, rather than individual systems functioning autonomously and without effect on each other.

·     Health as a positive vitality – not merely the absence of disease.

·     Promotion of organ reserve as the means to enhance health span.
